She’s one of my closest friends so pouring out my jittery heart was easy. She poured the wine and said, “It’s just a little stage fright. It’ll pass. Close your eyes. Remember why you wrote “real” and let it go.”
So I did.
And a Georgia O’Keeffe quote came to mind. “Making your unknown known is the important thing.”
That’s what mattered when I wrote “real” Coming of Age- Keeping our Soul, knowing that the unknown we each carry hidden inside us is what makes us human. It’s the sameness of it.
It’s what brings us together and gifts us with belonging. It was important then and still is.
No more stage fright, only a deepened, more open sense of place.
